It might actually be above freezing and sunny on Sunday, so I am going to take advantage of it with the laziest paddle for me to organize. We will meet and launch from the Rancocas Creek take-out in Mt. Holly, paddle upstream to Smithville (about 4 miles, should take a couple of hours in normal conditions), stop for lunch, then float/paddle back to Mt. Holly. This is an easy paddle suitable for all boat types, but it is of course easier to paddle against the current in a longer boat.

This is a cold weather/water paddle, proper cold-weather gear (wet suit or dry suit, and a PFD) are required to participate.

This is a rain-or-shine paddle, it will only be cancelled for thunderstorms, ice, or high winds. Cancellation will be posted by 8am the morning of the paddle.

I can be contacted the day of the paddle on my cell phone at [masked].

Directions:
Take Rt. 38 East till you go past Miller Subaru/Lucas Chevy/Dodge on your right. At the next light (Pine St/Eayerstown Road) make a right, and then make the first left for the jug handle (yep, it's Jersey, we don't do left turns easily...). Follow around curve, go straight through the light to cross over Rt. 38. Follow around more curve, make a right at the stop/yield onto Pine St. Drive down Pine St., and make a right onto Wollner Dr (it is the 3rd right I think). Wollner Dr. is immediately before the bridge over the Rancocas, the street sign is partially hidden by a tree on the corner unfortunately. Drive past the John Brainerd school on your right, then the road will kinda fork, take the right bit to get into the parking area for the take-out (which you can see from the fork).

The rancocas is ice-free and flowing, the launch just has half an inch of snow but wasn't slippery, the roads are mostly clear, and the sun is shining, the paddle is on for those braving the cold.

It was a nice workout getting upstream to Smithville, but that just made the float back more relaxing and enjoyable. As always it was great fun paddling with Jim and Victor, thanks for coming out!
    •  Great paddle and super duper company, thanks Jason and Jim, it was such a great day.
    •  This was a great paddle. The current was pretty swift, so the trip upstream was strenuous. The company was fantastic. Jason and Victor, you guys are so much fun to paddle with.
