Come join us for a paddle of the Brandywine River Presidents Weekend. The Brandywine is always a very popular paddle. This time, we will be doing the 'short run', which puts in at the Brandywine River Museum in Chadds Ford and takes out at the Route 92 parking area for Brandywine State Park in Delaware. Depending on current and the size of our group, expect a 2-3 hour paddle.
This is a beginner's level paddle, with no portages on this run. [[HOWEVER, IT IS FEBRUARY COLD WATER GEAR AND A PFD ARE MANDATORY. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE PROPERLY OUTFITTED/b]/color]
This is one of our safest cold water paddles as the Brandywine is not very wide and in most parts not very deep at all, so if you should happen to go splash, you're an easy walk out of the water. Make sure that your gear includes a change of clothing and a towel, as I expect things to still be quite muddy on the river banks. I hope everyone can make this paddle, we always have a good time on the Brandywine. Also, please note, the parking lot at the State Park is closed for the season, so, parking is free at this time.
