Brrr! The temperatures are dropping and the days are getting shorter. This doesn't have to cut short your kayaking adventures though. With the right gear and a little common sense, you can continue paddling even through the colder months of the year.
Did you know that hypothermia can be a danger even on warm, sunny days? Can you recognize the signs and symptoms of hypothermia? Do you know how to prevent or treat it? Do you know the best kinds of gear to keep you safe while paddling in cooler weather?
Come find the answers to these questions and more at our Hypothermia / Cold Weather Paddling Clinic hosted by Al & Sam's. The class starts promptly at 2pm at Al & Sam's retail location. This is an off-water class, so boats are not needed. The course usually last an hour or two, and there will be time to shop for gear and goodies afterwards.
While the class is held inside, the location is not heated, so dress appropriately for the weather. Your hosts will discuss hypothermia and cold shock, signs and symptoms, how to prevent and treat hypothermia, and what gear can help keep you safe.
We'd love to have more people join us this winter season for cold weather kayaking, so come on out and learn how to stay safe while doing it!
RSVPS close at 8pm on November 14 so we can give Cheryl a headcount.

We're now closed to new RSVPs since we are space limited. If you would still like to come, please drop me a line and I'll put you on a waiting list. If you are RSVPed YES and your plans change, please tell me so I can put a waiting list person on.
I'm hoping to make it to this clinic esp. since I hope to get a longer boat for next season and get out on more paddles. I realize they will probably cover the type of clothing/footwear needed to paddle in colder temps, but I don't know what brands they sell there. I was wondering what some you more experienced paddlers wear ? Brands/best material/footwear?? Any input would be appreciated. I've looked online at NRS and such but there is such a variety I wouldn't know how to choose.
Is there a limit to the number of people who can fit in this clinic?
